The Mystery of Mary’s Land
This is the second book in the series of adventures
involving the Renton family and their friend and protector
Sir Hugh de Quy.
Diane Renton inherits an old mansion set in two hundred and
sixty acres of forest land by the sea in north Norfolk. The
mansion was left to her when great aunt Mary died.
Diane and her husband Rob decide to take the family for a
three week holiday at her new house, where she thinks even
Mark and Matthew will not be able to put the family in
danger as they did the previous summer. How wrong could she
be.
Matthew, Mark and Matthew’s friend Tom are soon up to their
necks in adventure when they find a strange message in an
old tin under the library floor. They befriend old Cyril
who lives in the ruined church and who witnessed strange
happenings in the woods during the war when he was a
schoolboy. Mark has strange dreams of the Second World War
in which he see’s two crates unloaded from a military
vehicle and taken into the old church.
Before long the boys and Cyril have a murder to solve,
hidden treasure to find and a secret room to explore. As if
this wasn’t enough, the four of them get kidnapped by two
poachers who hear them talking of the treasure and want it
for themselves.
Things start to get really nasty until Sir Hugh arrives to
help them in their quest to solve all the
Mysteries of Mary’s Land.
